1.69ct Light Greenish Blue Unheated Aquamarine, Roebling Mine, Connecticut
7.2 x 5.8mm
Precision cut by Troy Richardson in a mix n’ match of two Evan Williams’ designs
A flawless pastel toned greenish blue Connecticut Aquamarine, unheated and untreated. This piece is loupe clean, and shifts between light blue and light bluish green. Cut from the 9ct. rough pictured at bottom right.
The Roebling Mine in New Milford, Connecticut was at one time among the world’s foremost sources for gem-grade Heliodor, and the only reliable source of photostable, earth mined, saturated yellow hues. Green Beryl and Aquamarine were also recovered in significant quantities. Although the mine has been closed for decades and is off-limits to collecting, we managed to obtain a few select pieces.
